WWE Universe looks to be excited for this week’s edition of Monday Night RAW. As announced, current WWE United States Champion Seth Rollins will battle the leader of Judgment Day, Finn Balor. The match announcement has received a warm response and the mastermind behind it, Triple H has been regarded for the same.
Finn Balor debuted on the main roster in 2016 after a successful stint at WWE NXT. He was selected by Mick Foley as a part of the 2016 WWE Draft in the Top 5 picks.
Foley called Balor’s pick as an eye towards the future, indicating that Balor had big things in his future. The PrinXe proved just that by defeating Seth Rollins at that year’s SummerSlam to become the first-ever WWE Universal Champion.
However, Balor dream run that began only weeks ago was cut short. During his match against Seth Rollins, Finn Balor suffered a major shoulder injury after Rollins delivered a buckle bomb on the apron. Moreover, Finn managed to wrestle with one arm and executed the Coup De Grace to win the newly christened title in the WWE. In addition, on the next night on RAW, Finn announced his injury and relinquished the WWE Universal Title.
Fans are excited for the WWE SummerSlam 2016 rematch between Seth Rollins and Finn Balor on RAW
Things have certainly changed since that time. Seth Rollins has emerged to become one of the marquee attractions on the flagship show. While Finn Balor had a career resurgence during his second run in NXT. After a slow start at the main roster in 2021, Balor turned heel and aligned himself with the Judgment Day faction. Furthermore, He quickly tossed then-leader Edge out of the stable and took over reins to terrorize the entire WWE landscape.
Therefore, fans were thrilled with the excitement upon the announcement of the 2016 SummerSlam rematch. They even expressed their views on Twitter and also thanked WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H. The Game was praised for putting the match together between the two top RAW superstars.
Thank you Triple H
