The England captain Jos Buttler has hailed his Indian counterpart, Rohit Sharma, for changing India’s style of play in the shortest format of the game since taking over the captaincy and has also said that Rohit is tactically very good.
Jos Buttler was talking to the press in Australia two days before the T20 World Cup semi-final against India at Adelaide and he said that India has started playing more freely in the shortest format of the game after Rohit has been given the charge, which probably suggests that the skipper has brought about a change in their approach.
It has very rarely happened in the last year in T20 cricket that India has batted first and has not crossed the score of 160 or 170. There have been a couple of collapses, including the one in this World Cup against South Africa, but whenever there hasn’t been a collapse, the Indian batsmen have gone for full monty and haven’t held back.
Jos Buttler is not reading too much into Rohit Sharma’s personal form
Rohit Sharma, himself, has been a bit quiet with the bat in the ongoing T20 World Cup so far. He had come into the World Cup with decent form and a decent amount of runs under his belt, but he hasn’t got going in the mega event in the 5 games that India has played till this point.
However, Jos Buttler is not reading too much into that and he made it clear in his address to the press that he looks at Rohit Sharma as a champion player who can turn the tide at any given point of time.
Before Jos Buttler, even Ben Stokes, while talking to the press earlier in the morning, had said that Rohit Sharma’s failures with the bat in two or three games don’t mean much, because he has the ability to come good anytime.
