“Me and Rohit Bhaiya didn’t have beard,” Deepak Chahar posts 15-year old picture with Rohit Sharma at Sawai Mansingh Stadium

Deepak Chahar and Rohit Sharma had clicked pictures as junior cricketers at the same venue in 2006

The Indian fast bowler Deepak Chahar has shared two pictures of himself with the new Indian T20I captain Rohit Sharma, both pictures being taken 15 years apart from each other and both being taken on the same ground of Jaipur where last night’s T20 international match between India and New Zealand was played.

The first picture was taken way back in 2006 when Rohit Sharma was one of the U19 cricketers of India, while Deepak Chahar used to play junior cricket as a 14-year-old and was also a ball boy at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Chahar, after last night’s T20I, clicked a picture with Rohit again, almost in the same pose, and posted both the pictures on Twitter, much to the amusement of the Indian fans.

Rohit and Chahar, both attended the presentation ceremony after the game, as Rohit was the winning captain, while Chahar won the “moment of the match” award for his reaction after the wicket of the New Zealand opener Martin Guptill. It was after the conclusion of the presentation ceremony that the picture was clicked.

Deepak Chahar cheekily mentioned in the caption while posting the pictures on Twitter that the last time him and Rohit clicked a picture at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, none of them had even grown a beard, while both of them have it now as they have come a full circle in their careers.

Rohit made a great start as India’s full-time T20I captain yesterday with a win against the Kiwis and he himself contributed with the bat as well, but for Deepak Chahar, the game wasn’t much of a success on an individual level as he gave away 42 runs in his 4 overs.

Chahar would want to get it right in Ranchi, where he is most likely to get another opportunity in the second T20I game on Friday.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
