From December 6th, the 2022 edition of the Lanka Premier League would start. Hambantota would host the first few games of the competition. On that note, here, we look at the pitch report of Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium and the weather conditions in Hambantota for LPL 2022.
Apart from the economic reasons, Sri Lanka would want LPL 2022 to also be successful on cricketing grounds. The Sri Lankan squad is slowly developing a strong core. While Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana form a world-class spin attack, the batters like Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, and Charith Asalanka are doing well. Dasun Shanaka as the skipper has also been top-class.
However, the team would further want to improve the squad from now on. There is a crop of good youngsters and they would need some experience at the top level. The Asia Cup win has helped Sri Lanka with confidence. Now, they would want to do well in the 2023 ODI World Cup. With the tournament happening in India, the nation will look to identify some talented cricketers to step up during the event.

This stadium has not hosted a lot of T20I encounters. Only seven games have happened and the last T20I happened here way back in 2013. Hence, there is not much data available for deriving a pattern.
The average score batting first here is 131. This is proof that the spinners will have a role to play. Ajantha Mendis once picked 6/8 on this pitch and that still remains the best bowling display here.

The temperature could range between 31 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius at Hambantota for LPL 2022. While the temperature is suitable, the problem arises with the rainfall predictions.
Most days are expected to be partly cloudy while on certain days, scattered thunderstorms are predicted. Hence, fans will have to expect some incomplete games in the tournament.
