List of captains for the Women’s Premier League (WPL)

WPL 2023 will kick start from 4th March.

The historic step towards the development of Women’s Cricket paid off. The Women’s Premier League auction was successful as a total of 87 players were sold to 5 teams in Gujarat Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore Woman, Delhi Capitals woman, UP Warriorz and Mumbai Indians Woman, who spent around INR 59.5 crores. Some premier players were acquired by the franchises whereas it was a heartbreak for a few reputed players as well. The league will kick start from 4th March with the final set to take place on 26th March.

The excitement for the WPL 2023 is building on. The inaugural edition of the league is just a few days away from now. The teams have started their preparations and are leaving no stone unturned in the build-up to the tournament.

Talking about the captains in the league, the Gujarat Giants will be led by Australian opener Beth Mooney. She has been one of the best batters of the late in Women’s cricket and has scored runs consistently. With the kind of experience, she has she will be a great asset for the team.

Mumbai Indians will be captained by Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. The right-hander has been leading India’s team well and has been doing well with the bat as well. With the kind of team, MI have, they are one of the favourites to win the game.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will be captained by Indian opener Smriti Mandhana. She’s rated as one of the best batters in the world of cricket and with the responsibility to lead, it is expected that she will do a decent job as a skipper of the team.

The most successful women’s captain Meg Lanning will be the leading Delhi Capitals in the WPL. The Australian skipper has 5 ICC trophies under his belt and would be hoping to get an IPL trophy too. Whereas UP Warriorz will be captained by Alyssa Healy.
