Fazel Atrachali was the face of the U Mumbai squad. However, the team decided to release their talisman. They were also not able to buy him back at the auctions. Going by the moves at the auctions, it was clear that U Mumbai was interested in hiring Pawan Sehrawat. However, with the Tamil Thalaivas taking the bid past the INR 2 crores mark, U Mumbai had to focus on other targets.
While PKL 8 performers such as Rinku and Rahul Sethpal were retained, the team went hard for the likes of Guman Singh and Gholamabbas Korouki. It is a young team with a lot of potential. It needs to be seen how they would perform next season.
Raiders: Ashish Narwal, Guman Singh, Jai Bhagwan, Heidarali Ekrami, Ankush, Kamlesh, Shivam, Sachin, Pranay Vinay Rane and Rupesh.
All-Rounders: Gholamabbas Korouki
Defenders: Surinder Singh, Rinku, Rahul Sethpal, Shivansh Thakur, Prince, Kiran Laxman Magar, Harendra Kumar and Satywan.

A firm challenge for U Mumbai in PKL 9
Although U Mumbai started Pro Kabaddi League well, they have not been able to follow up on their initial success. They won the competition in the second season and later reached a couple of finals.
However, since then, they have found it hard in the competition. Plus, in almost every auction, the franchise is going for a rebuild which is further hampering their progress. Anil Chaparana is the new Head Coach and he would be expected to do better in PKL 9.
