“It’s Not Like It Was My Former Team And I Couldn’t Do Well”- RCB Player Mahipal Lomror Opens Up On Failure Against RR In Qualifier 2

The Royal Challengers Bangalore became the only franchise to qualify for the IPL playoffs in 2020, 2021 and 2022. They finished fourth on the points table this year and then beat the Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator to book a place in the Qualifier 2 match. RCB’s campaign ended there with a defeat at the hands of the Rajasthan Royals. Mahipal Lomror let the RCB fans down with his performance.

Lomror played for the Rajasthan Royals in multiple IPL seasons. However, the Jaipur-based franchise did not retain him for the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. Lomror earned a contract from the Royal Challengers Bangalore team at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

The all-rounder played seven matches for his new team, with his batting average being around 18. He failed to take any wickets in the two overs he bowled for RCB this year.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore selected Mahipal Lomror in the playing XI for the Qualifier 2 match against the Rajasthan Royals. Fans had high hopes from the uncapped player, especially after his 27-ball 42 against the Chennai Super Kings.

Mahipal Lomror batted at a strike rate of 80 in the Qualifier 2 match

Mahipal Lomror came out to bat at number five for the Royal Challengers Bangalore when the team’s score was 111/3 against the Rajasthan Royals. The platform was set for a big score, but RCB finished with only 157/8 in 20 overs.

Lomror faced 10 balls, scoring eight runs. Obed McCoy dismissed him caught out. When asked how he felt after failing against his former team, Lomror told Sportskeeda:

“It’s not like it was my former team and I couldn’t do well against them so I was frustrated. I was frustrated because at that moment my current team required that innings from me. But that day, none of our death-overs batters clicked. I couldn’t get my shots away and DK (Dinesh Karthik) bhaiya couldn’t convert either.”
