The England Test Team is all set to start a new era with Ben Stokes at the helm. Batting issues have been the major reason for the decline of the England Test Team in recent years. Now, Kevin Pietersen has called for the inclusion of two batters, whom he feels will improve the squad. In this article, we take a look at Kevin Pietersen urges England to hand his Test debut to Liam Livingstone in the Ben Stokes era.
KP wants Test debut to Liam Livingstone in the Ben Stokes era
Liam Livingstone is one of the crucial components of the white-ball squads. He is known for his big-hitting skills and is proving it in IPL, as well. However, Pietersen reckoned that the big-hitter will come good in Tests, as well.
On his Betway blog, the former English skipper wrote, “It’s about time that England backed the talent of Liam Livingstone. He is so free-spirited and I love the way that he is eager to entertain. He wants to give it a smack so he just does, no holding back. It’s awesome to watch. There aren’t many better batters than him in England, I tell you.”
Finishing his argument about Liam, KP mentioned, “He’s used to playing in this high-pressure environment and he’s loving it. I would have him straight in the Test side at five or six. He can change the nature of a match very quickly by taking bowling attacks apart. Of course, he would fail at times, but when he goes well, crikey, you would have a guy who can destroy the opposition by scoring quick, entertaining runs.”
KP also took another name who should get his Test debut at the earliest. Harry Brook has been in good form for a while now, including in the ongoing County Championship. Pietersen said that the youngster can also be relied upon in Test XI.
England may see prominent changes in their playing XI
Barring captain Ben Stokes and Joe Root, there are no confirmed starters in the Test team for England. Hence, in the coming days, we could see some interesting decisions taken with regard to the team. The Three Lions’ next Test assignment will be against New Zealand in June.
