The fifth match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is happening in Pune right now, where the Rajasthan Royals are taking on the Sunrisers Hyderabad. It is the first match of the new season at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Sunrisers Hyderabad followed the trend of winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. However, it seems they missed David Warner tonight.
The pitch looked great for batting during the Rajasthan Royals innings as a half-century from captain Sanju Samson helped the Jaipur-based franchise post a 200+ total on the board. Opener Jos Buttler scored 35 runs, while Samson aggregated 55 runs off just 27 deliveries.
Devdutt Padikkal played at number four for the first time his IPL career and scored a decent 29-ball 41. Shimron Hetmyer chipped in with a 13-ball 32 on his debut for the Rajasthan Royals.
“Definitely a first-time experience for me in the IPL. I was just looking to back myself, trust my abilities and express myself. They’ve been very welcoming – it’s a loveable franchise and everyone has made me feel at home. The pitch is a bit sticky,” Devdutt Padikkal said after the first innings.

In the past, when David Warner was a part of the Hyderabad-based franchise, he would score quick runs for the team in the powerplay overs.
