IPL 2020: Strongest possible XI for Mumbai Indians

The defending champions Mumbai Indians have reached UAE and are getting ready to win the IPL for the fifth time in the history of the tournament. Once again, they have a great squad that has the potential to go all the way in the tournament. They have a great mix of young and experienced players which always helps.

There is less than a month left for the IPL start and everybody has started making their combinations and possible XI for each team. So, let’s have a look at the strongest possible XI for the four-time IPL champions.

#1 Openers – Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock

Rohit Sharma and QDK formed a great combination up at the top in the last year’s IPL. The right-left combination makes things difficult for the bowlers. Not only that but they both compliment each other really well.

Quinton De Kock can target the bowlers from word go whereas the skipper can take his time. QDK will also keep wickets which solves the wicket-keeping problem.

#2 Middle-order – Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard

A good mix of young and experienced players will make up the middle-order for Mumbai Indians. Suryakumar Yadav is one of the most underrated and consistent batsmen for MI. Ishan Kishan, the young and dynamic batsman can change the match in a matter of two overs and we all know what Pollard is capable of.

Over the years, Pollard has become more matured and he knows when to target the opposition bowlers. A smart Pollard is even a more dangerous Pollard.

#3 All-rounders – Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya

The Pandya brothers are the perfect all-rounders Jodi which you want in your team. A decent fast bowler with unbelievable hitting power and a left-arm spinner with a left-handed smart batsman will be the two all-rounders for MI.

These two can bat anywhere in the batting order and are always ready to bowl. Not only that but both of the team are also great fielders, they rarely drop a catch and have the capability to create a run-out from somewhere. These are the perfect two players who you want in your team as your all-rounders.

#4 Bowlers – Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult and Nathan Coulter Nile

Mumbai Indians have covered all their departments in bowling. Trent Boult will open the bowling and swing the new ball. Being a left-armer he will trouble most of the right-handed batsman. With Jasprit Bumrah you have your death bowling covered. He is currently the best in the business.

Rahul Chahar covers the middle-overs with his wrist-spin. He did pretty well in the last year’s IPL. Nathan Coulter Nile will be the perfect support for Boult and Bumrah. Having said that, you can’t take NCN lightly, he might become the spearhead and perform really well. NCN can come and smash a few with the bat as well. MI even has the likes of Lasith Malinga and Mitchell McClenaghan in the reserves who had done well for them previously.
