IPL 2014 brought along a lot of things that proved to be ingredients for a great entertainment package for the players and the fans who were watching. Most Runs in IPL 2014:
The highest run-getter of the tournament was from none other than the winners of the tournament, the Kolkata Knight Riders, and the player was Robin Uthappa. The wicket-keeper batsman scored 660 runs in 16 matches and maintained an average of 44. Dwyane Smith was placed at number 2 in the list of the highest run-getters, with 566 runs to his name.
At number 3 was the rockstar of UAE, Glenn Maxwell. The Aussie had a great time in UAE and carried that form into India and managed to put together a total of 552 runs. Following him, at number 4 and 5 were David Warner and ‘Mr IPL’, Suresh Raina himself. Warner had scored 528 runs in 16 matches while Raina had scored 523 runs in 17 games.

Most Wickets in IPL 2014:
The competition amongst the bowlers was tight in IPL 2014. The Purple Cap holder of the tournament, Mohit Sharma had 23 wickets to his name while his close follower at number 2, was Sunil Narine who had 21 wickets to his name in 16 matches.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar who was at number 3, had 20 wickets to his name. The players after him, Ravindra Jadeja of the Chennai Super Kings had 19 wickets in his account, and Sandeep Sharma of the Kings XI Punjab had taken 18 wickets in just 11 games, the least of the lot.

Most Sixes in IPL 2014:
The ‘Big Show’ from Australia, who had one of the best seasons of his in the tournament’s history, Glenn Maxwell hit 36 sixes in total, the highest amongst all the batsmen in IPL 2014. The next player on the list was from the place that is known to produce the best of players in T20 cricket, the Caribbean, Dwayne Smith had hit 34 sixes in 16 matches.
Yuvraj Singh was the number 3 player on the leader board, with 28 sixes to his name. He was an expensive buy for the Royal Challengers Bangalore that season and he gave his owners, the bang for the buck. His teammate AB de Villiers followed him with 24 sixes and equalling his tally was David Warner of the Sunrisers Hyderabad who hit the sixes in the same number of games, but de Villiers was placed above him because he had played one inning less.

Most Fours in IPL 2014:
If you were wondering that how did Robin Uthappa managed to hit so many runs in such a limited time, it was all thanks to the 74 boundaries that he hit during the 16 matches that he batted in. Virender Sehwag was the next in the leader board of the players with the most fours in IPL 2014, but he was off Uthappa’s total by as many as 18 boundaries.
Suresh Raina followed Sehwag closely though, as he hit 51 boundaries, compared to Sehwag’s tally of 51 hits. Raina’s teammate, Dwayne Smith was just one hit and hence one position behind him and as he managed to 50 fours in 16 matches. Shikhar Dhawan competed in the top 5 with 49 boundaries in 14 matches.

Fastest Fifties in IPL 2014:
Coming in with a 15 ball half-century against what would be his last franchise of the Indian Premier League, Yusuf Pathan, playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders. This knock of his still stands to be one of the fastest half-centuries in the entire history of the tournament. Suresh Raina was also in the sight of equalling this record but fell short by one delivery, completing his exploit in 16 balls.
After this, it was all Kings XI Punjab’s domination of the list. David Miller was at number 3 with a 19 ball 50, Virender Sehwag came in with a 21 ball smacking and Glenn Maxwell who had become a household name because of his performances also hit a fifty in the same number of balls as Sehwag did.
