IND vs SA Live Update: Aakash Chopra thinks that it was a mistake not to bowl Yuzvendra Chahal his entire quota of four overs during the first Twenty20 International that took place on June 9 between Team India and South Africa.
The Men in Blue were not successful in defending a target of 212 runs. As a result, South Africa was able to win the match by a comfortable margin of seven wickets. Chahal was only granted two overs before being summoned back to bowl the 20th over when the visitors needed just four runs to win the game.
In a video that was uploaded to his channel on YouTube, Chopra pondered India’s defense of the 212-run objective. The former Indian hitter pointed out that the hosts committed quite a few errors, and elaborated on what those errors were.
IND vs SA Live Update: Aakash Chopra is critical of Chahal not getting his full quota of overs
“When Rassie and David Miller got together, South Africa had scored 81 runs and lost 3 wickets. And following that, there were a lot of questions that were asked. The fact that Yuzi Chahal did not bowl his full quota of overs seems to me to have been a mistake. The fact that he did not bowl all of his overs because of a costly over was not fair and should not have happened,” Chopra said.
Chopra brought attention to the fact that the crafty leg-spinner can recover even after getting off to a sluggish start.
He argued as follows: “You handed him one on the powerplay, another during the middle, and then the 20th after that. It is a small ground, but the dew was not there, and Yuzi Chahal has matured while playing at the Chinnaswamy. He can come back, and he might have given you a wicket.”
When Chahal was brought into the attack to bowl the fourth over of the powerplay, he was immediately hit for 16 runs. In the following over he bowled, which was the ninth over of the Proteas innings, he allowed just six runs, but after that, he did not get the ball again until the very end of the game.
