3 franchises that targeted Yuzvendra Chahal in IPL 2022 Mega Auctions before RR signed him

When RCB did not retain Yuzvendra Chahal before IPL 2022 Auctions, it was a big surprise. He was their talisman and it was surprising that they did not want his duties. They also did not bid for him at the auctions. At Rajasthan Royals, Chahal has been a revelation and has even earned a spot back in the Indian Team. A few other teams were also interested in the wily leg-spinner. Here, we take a look at three franchises that targeted Yuzvendra Chahal in IPL 2022 Mega Auctions before RR signed him.

1) Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals were interested in Chahal right from the beginning. However, they could not sign the cricketer and eventually signed Kuldeep Yadav as their lead spinner.

Chahal would have been useful at Delhi. Nevertheless, Delhi would not mind much because they could get the services of Kuldeep.

2) Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH is one of the franchises that targeted Yuzvendra Chahal in IPL 2022 Mega Auctions before RR signed him. It was just one bid that SRH made for Chahal at the Auctions.

Having lost Rashid Khan, the team wanted a good leg-spinner to replace him. Hence, it was not a surprise that they were interested in Chahal. However, SRH did not retain their interest in Chahal for long. They withdrew from the race very quickly.

3) Mumbai Indians

It was at MI that Chahal started his career. The Mumbai-based franchise was very much interested in signing their former player. However, the move did not come off for them.

Mumbai should have gone a bit higher for the cricketer. The team has struggled to find a good spinner since then. They had to use Piyush Chawla, who has actually been good so far. However, with Chahal, MI would have got more control and also wickets at regular intervals. They could still target him in the future, though.
