Sanju Samson made a return to the Ranji Trophy after three long years. He made sure that he assert his authority in the comeback match as he smashed a fifty with the help of 6 sixes and 2 fours against Jharkhand.
Samson came to bat when Kerala was thumbing at 98/3. He played a good fire knock of 72 runs in 108 balls. He smashed 7 sixes and 4 fours and helped his side recover from the early wickets.
Samson notably has been in the headlines because of the lack of opportunities in the Indian side despite performing well in the domestic circuit and limited opportunity in the Indian side.
Samson didn’t get a chance in the T20I series against New Zealand. But was back in the team for the first ODI. He batted decently well and scored 36 runs but then was again benched for the second game and also missed the third game due to team combination. He then was rested for the Bangladesh series as well.
With Samson now returning back to Ranji Trophy, it’ll be an opportunity for him to perform consistently and make it difficult for management to bench him for too long. He kick-started his campaign on high and all he needs to do is perform in every game.
