Almost everyone knows that the new Indian all format captain Rohit Sharma is a big football fan and out of all the football leagues around the world, he watches La Liga a lot because his favorite football team Real Madrid operates in La Liga.
Rohit Sharma recently shared some of his football memories in a chat with NDTV and he recalled that just before the COVID 19 pandemic rocked the world, he had actually gone to Spain and had watched an El Clasico game between Real Madrid and Barcelona live.
But, soon after that, the pandemic struck and a lot of restrictions were imposed on everything. So, Rohit has not been able to travel to watch a La Liga game after that, but the Indian captain insisted that he would definitely want to watch his favorite team Real Madrid play live again in future.
Not being able to watch football live because of bubble restrictions: Rohit Sharma
According to Rohit, these days even if he travels abroad to play cricket matches for his own team, there are still restrictions involved as all the cricketers have to live in a bubble and they can’t go to outside places like normal people. That is the reason why he has not been able to go to the football games even when he has traveled abroad since 2020.
Talking about his favorite football player of all time, Rohit Sharma named the former French midfielder Zinedine Zidane as his all time favorite. Zidane didn’t just serve Real Madrid as a player, he later returned to the club as a manager as well and Real Madrid went onto win Champions League title under the managerial tenure of Zidane.
Rohit, who is probably the no. 1 cricketer in India at the moment because of his leadership role in all three formats, has also been the brand ambassador of La Liga in India which is the top division football competition in Spain.
