Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw has rued missing out on 400 after getting out on 379 in the Ranji Trophy 2023 against Assam. He said that he was wrongly termed out otherwise he could’ve made 400 as he was batting well. He also talked about his partnership with Ajinkya Rahane and said that his presence in the team lifts the youngsters.

Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw set the stage on fire in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2023 game between Assam and Mumbai. The right-hander has played his best innings in red-ball cricket and made a bold statement.
Opening the innings, Shaw provided his team with a staggering start and made sure that they stay on top of the game. He batted staggering well and paved his way through the century before lunch. He achieved the feat in just 107 balls.
However, he didn’t just stop there as he went on to score his 150 in 164 balls and then finally went on to smash his double century in Tests. Shaw scored 200 in 235 balls. remained unbeaten on 240 runs from 283 balls at Stumps on Day 1.

He was left unfazed by the break as he batted even more sensationally on Day 2 and paved his way through his triple century from 326 balls and then went on to make 379 runs.
Shaw surpassed Sanjay Manjrekar’s record of the highest individual score for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy history – 377*. During his 383-ball knock, he smashed 49 fours and 4 six before he was trapped in LBW by Riyan Parag.
However, Shaw feels that he wasn’t out as the umpire gave the wrong decision. He said: “I wasn’t out and could have made 400. It feels really nice. I could have made that 400. I think I was batting really well but it was just matter of time as big runs weren’t coming. I thought, I should give myself more time out there in the middle, display patience and the track needed that.”

Shaw also shared 401 runs partnership with Ajinkya Rahane, who scored 191 runs. He said that he enjoys batting with him. He added: “It feels really nice to bat with a player of his (Rahane’s) stature. Someone with so much of international experience. His mere presence around this Mumbai side lifts us up. I always try and learn when an international player comes and plays with us.”
Coming to the match, after Mumbai posted a gigantic first innings total of 687 runs on the board, they bundled out the opposition for just 370 runs and then enforced follow on.
