The sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League is just a couple of hours away from getting underway. Chennai Super Kings will take on the defending champions, Gujarat Titans in the tournament opener.

The IPL 2023 opener will kick off at the world’s largest cricket stadium, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It will be quite interesting to see which team will brave the challenges and win the game.

As many as ten teams are competing in the tournament. It remains to be seen which team will win the title this time around. In the last edition, Gujarat Titans won the title by beating Rajasthan Royals in the final.

Scott Styris gives his power rankings for teams ahead of IPL 2023

The upcoming edition of the IPL is expected to have plenty of exciting and interesting things in store for the fans. Meanwhile, former New Zealand cricketer, Scott Styris chipped in with his power rankings for teams ahead of IPL 2023.

Scott Styris picked Royal Challengers Bangalore at the top spot in his power rankings. On the other side of the coin, Styris placed Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals in the next three spots.

The likes of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants come next on the list, with Kolkata Knight Riders being placed at the last position.

Earlier, top Indian players namely Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah were ruled out of the IPL. Pant met with an accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway in late December.

As a result, he underwent surgery and is currently recuperating. Shreyas Iyer underwent back surgery and as a result, he has been ruled out at least in the first half of the IPL.

Nitish Rana has been named the captain of KKR for the IPL 2023 season whereas Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the IPL after failing to fully recover from his back injury.
