One of England’s prominent cricketers, Ben Stokes, might have retired from One Day International (ODI) cricket citing fatigue, but another prominent member of the England set-up, Jonny Bairstow, has no immediate plans to do so and he has made it absolutely clear that he would continue playing all three formats of the game.

Jonny Bairstow was talking to Sky cricket yesterday as the start of the second ODI between England and South Africa was delayed due to rain and he said that he is enjoying all three formats of the game. According to Bairstow, all three formats are different and they have their own challenges.

Bairstow said that there might be a scenario in the future where he will have to make some kind of a decision regarding his career based on various fac tors, nobody knows about the future, but the way things stand right now, he intends to play all three formats and there is no intention to pick and choose the formats.

After the retirement of Ben Stokes, there has been a growing debate if the ODI format should be scrapped because the schedule is getting too hectic and it’s impossible for the players to sustain it, but Bairstow’s opinion on it is different. He is comfortable playing all three formats, besides the fact that he plays in the IPL too.

Jonny Bairstow has recently been the most talked about English cricketer

Jonny Bairstow has been the most talked about cricketer in England in recent times because of the way he has batted in test cricket, particularly in the 4th innings of the games which are considered the toughest phase for batting in test match cricket.

Bairstow is now back playing ODI cricket for England too, after missing the T20I series against India and he also scored a half-century in the first ODI against South Africa in Durham.

Abhishek

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
