After giving the impression recently in the T20 World Cup 2021 that he might bid adieu to the game soon, Chris Gayle now seems to have hinted on Twitter with a cryptic tweet that he has no plans of leaving the game just yet.
Gayle posted a tweet yesterday which read, “I ain’t leaving” and the tweet was posted just a day ahead of the start of the Abu Dhabi T10 league, a franchise-based T10 tournament in which Gayle is participating for Team Abu Dhabi.
Even though Chris Gayle had accepted the ovation that he got after being dismissed in West Indies’ last T20 World Cup game against Australia, he had insisted he would love to play even further if West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) allowed him so.
While the West Indies selectors might not have Gayle in his future plans anymore as they might want to build a young side, Gayle might still continue to play franchise cricket.
T10 league might turn out to be an audition before IPL mega auction for Chris Gayle
This T10 league is going to be a great opportunity for Gayle to show some of the IPL franchises, ahead of the mega auction of 2022, that he is still good enough to contribute in some capacity if he is picked in the squad.
There are going to be more opportunities for the overseas players in the next IPL as two new franchises have been added and with all the franchises being allowed to sign 8 players, a maximum of 80 overseas players can get contracts.
I Ain’t Leaving…

Chris Gayle is unlikely to be retained by his current franchise Punjab Kings as he failed to make any meaningful contribution for them last season, but he might still find a bid or two from one of the two franchises as they might look to add some star power to their line-up.
