The IPL 2022 Auction is fast approaching us. It will happen on February 12 and 13, with 10 franchises participating in the mega auction for the first time since the year 2011. Apart from the eight existing teams, new entrants Lucknow Super Giants and Team Ahmedabad will make the auction more special. AB de Villiers will not be a part of an IPL season for the first time ever, but there is a new player named Dewald Brevis in the auction pool.
Like de Villiers, Brevis was born in South Africa. Interestingly, even his jersey number is 17, and he supports the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. Brevis is currently playing for South Africa U-19s in the ICC U-19 World Cup 2022. While the Proteas could not make it to the semifinals of the mega event, Brevis has gained the headlines because of his playing style.
Many fans have noticed that there is a shadow of AB de Villiers in his batting style. Due to the many similarities between de Villiers and Dewald Brevis, the South Africa U-19 star is known as Baby AB de Villiers. It will be interesting to see if the Royal Challengers Bangalore sign the upcoming star after their legendary player retired.
AB de Villiers is a legend and one of the best in the whole world: Dewald Brevis
In a chat with the International Cricket Council during the ICC U-19 World Cup 2022, Dewald Brevis clarified that he considers AB de Villiers a legend, but he does not want to become Baby AB. He wants to become the first Dewald Brevis.
“He (AB de Villiers) is a legend and one of the best in the whole world. I like being compared to him but I would like to have my own identity as Dewald Brevis,” said the youngster.
It will be exciting to see which team signs the South African U-19 cricket team star at the upcoming mega auction.
