Here is why Royal Challengers Bangalore did not retain Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal was RCB's fourth choice player for the retention

When the IPL retentions of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were being discussed, one of the names that was featured in the list of almost all the pundits was the leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, and it was no surprise, given how consistent Chahal has been for RCB with the ball.

But, RCB has eventually ended up not retaining Chahal ahead of the mega auction and the reports suggest it was because of the fact that the leggie was not ready to be retained as the 4th player as it would have brought his price tag down to 6 crore INR.

Royal Challengers Bangalore decided to have the former captain Virat Kohli, the Australian allrounder Glenn Maxwell and the fast bowler Mohammed Siraj as their first three retentions and as per the BCCI guidelines, the fourth player could have been paid only 6 crore which Chahal didn’t agree for.

Yuzvendra Chahal will now be in the mega auction if one of the two new IPL franchises doesn’t pick him as a draft pick before the auction. Two new franchises have the option of picking 3 players from the list of the players who have not been retained by their respective franchises.

If Chahal doesn’t turn out to be one of the 6 draft picks which will be announced by the two new franchises within the next three weeks, he will go into the auction and might fetch himself a big amount there, as he brings a lot to the table for a T20 team in Indian conditions.

Yuzvendra Chahal is the highest ever wicket-taker of Royal Challengers Bangalore

Before making his way to Royal Challengers Bangalore, Yuzvendra Chahal was a part of the Mumbai Indians set-up and it won’t be shocking to anyone if the Mumbai Indians opt to buy the wily leg spinner in the mega auction again.

Chahal, however, will go into the history books as an RCB all-time great as he is leaving the franchise as their highest ever wicket-taker.
