Glenn Maxwell Revealed Why He Could Not Perform For Punjab Kings

Royal Challengers Bangalore has been off to a sublime start to IPL 2021 campaign that saw them destabilising the defending champions in the season opener and secure a victory from an exceptionally difficult position in their second game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Thanks to special innings from Glenn Maxwell.

In both the victories, there was one man who led the battery for the Challengers towards the latter half of the innings and it was none other than the colossal Australian all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell.

In the opening game when RCB took an early tumble with Sundar and Patidar departing early, it was Maxwell who joined forces with Kohli and stabilized the innings before freeing his arms.

In today’s clash against Hyderabad, Bangalore was shoehorned into a tight corner when Maxwell bailed them out in scintillating fashion, smoking a crunchy 59 from just 41 balls.

Ever since IPL 2020 has come to an end, Maxwell has found himself in a rich vein of form that has seen him rocking the bilateral series against India which was followed by a rambunctious outing at BBL.

He went for a hefty price tag at the auctions and that led to a meme-fest on Twitter. However, he has proven everyone wrong until now and has shown it to the IPL fans that why he is still one of the most industrious T20 monikers

throughout the world.

This is what Glenn Maxwell had to say about his failure at Punjab Kings

Maxwell said that he was coming pretty late down the order for Punjab which dented his batting stance. He is not a pinch-hitter and transforms his innings from a slow start into a tornado. However, Punjab wanted him to fire right from ball one with no support after him whatsoever.

He quoted, “”It’s a very nice start, new franchise for me and they have given me a specific role. To start like this is really nice. It’s nice to have batters behind you, you have freedom with AB to come and it’s a very similar role I have in the Australian cricket team.”

He concluded saying, “Probably having those guys behind me is a luxury at RCB. Maybe was pushed a bit too deep and expected to go from ball one (Past season), which I am not pretty good at”.
