GE-U23 vs IC-U23: After a scintillating performance in their previous game, Germany will take on Côte d’Ivoire for their final group stage match at the Miyagi Stadium on Wednesday.
After the disappointing loss against Brazil in their opening game, Germany played Saudi Arabia at the International Stadium, Yokohama. The match started with an early bang for Germany by Amiri but was later followed by an equaliser from Sami Al Najei.
With lots at stake, Germany lived up to the expectations as they gained the lead courtesy of Ragnar Ache’s goal, minutes before the first half. The game couldn’t have gotten any better after Sami Alnaji scored his second of the match and another equaliser for Saudi Arabia. However, his brace went in vain as Felix Uduokhai scored the third and winning goal for Germany, handing them 3 crucial points.
Côte d’Ivoire is walking into this encounter with an unsatisfactory stalemate against defending champions, Brazil. Thirteen minutes into the game, Douglas Luiz was sent off leaving Brazil with 10 men on the field. It didn’t affect the Brazilians that much after the first half ended nil-nil.
After struggling through the entire match, both the teams failed on several opportunities to take the lead. By the 80th minute, a second yellow to Kouassi forced him out of the field and soon, the match ended 0-0.
