2 players in Texas Super Kings squad whom CSK can target for IPL 2024

Texas Super Kings is the latest investment by the owners of Chennai Super Kings. They had previously put money in the Jo’burg Super Kings in SA20, as well. Interestingly, there are quite a few players who operate across all three franchises. Hence, in this regard, CSK management might target some of the TSK players operating for them in the Major League Cricket. Here, we take a look at two players in the Texas Super Kings squad whom CSK can target for IPL 2024.

1) Daniel Sams (If released by LSG)

The Australian all-rounder is currently at Lucknow Super Giants. It is most likely that he would be released by the outfit before the next season. Sams anyways did not get the opportunity to show his skills in the recent campaign. Therefore, he would be in the auctions.

CSK could consider releasing someone like Dwaine Pretorius and buying a player like Sams. Sams does well with the new ball and can also do the job with some of his variations at the death. Most importantly, in line with MS Dhoni’s idea of multi-functional cricketers, Sams can hit the long ball with the bat. Therefore, he would be a key signing for CSK if they make it.

2) Gerald Coetzee

Gerald Coetzee is one of the players in the Texas Super Kings squad whom CSK can target for IPL 2024. Many expected CSK to sign him for IPL 2023. However, that did not happen. That said, he would be one of the exciting names in the upcoming mini-auctions.

CSK already has the overseas fast-bowling quota locked with the presence of Matheesha Pathirana. However, if the youngster is unavailable, Coetzee would be a top option to be in the XI. In fact, playing both together along with Deepak Chahar at the start would be a top bowling combination for CSK. He might be expensive but CSK will have funds since the likes of Ambati Rayudu have retired and there are likely to be some big-name departures.
