Drew McIntyre is set for the biggest opportunity of his entire wrestling career this Saturday at WWE Clash at the Castle. However, The Scottish Warrior recently expressed deep regret over his duet he sang with the legendary Tyson Fury at WWE Clash at the Castle two years prior. The duo sang “American Pie” after Drew McIntyre’s unsuccessful bid for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns.
The WWE event, held in Cardiff Wales, marked the first premium live event in the United Kingdom in two decades. Competing on familiar turf, many fans had high hopes for Drew McIntyre’s victory. However, it was Solo Sikoa, who made his main roster debut that night, interfered and cost McIntyre the match, allowing his cousin, Roman Reigns to retain his title.
Why did Drew McIntyre regret signing a duet with Tyson Fury?
In a recent interview with Metro, Drew McIntyre reflected on the aftermath of the match, describing it as one of his biggest regrets. Drew stated that he would rather have taken 10 punches from Tyson Fury that time. Moreover, McIntyre was disgusted with himself at the time and vowed never to sing again labelling it as one of the biggest regrets of his life.
“That was BS. We can actually get it right this time. I’d rather take 10 punches from Fury – also they’re pillow fists, so they’d be easier. But, I’m never singing again. I just did what I felt was right at that time, and tried to make people happier, even though I was clearly disgusted myself. One of my biggest regrets, singing that song.”
This candid reflection highlights McIntyre’s disappointment and his resolve to avoid such situations in the future. On the other hand, he had a tall task ahead of himself this year at WWE Clash at the Castle taking place in his home country of Scotland.
Drew is set to battle Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of the show, which could possibly see him walk away the winner in one of the biggest moments of his career.
