The first T20I of the two-match series between the Indian cricket team and the Ireland cricket team happened last night in Dublin, where the Men in Blue emerged victorious by seven wickets. Hardik Pandya won his maiden T20I as the Indian captain. Dinesh Karthik and Deepak Hooda were the men who guided India home in the final part of the match.
Speaking of the battle between the Indian cricket team and the Ireland cricket team, Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first at The Village. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Pandya sent the Irish openers back to the dressing room early. Avesh Khan dismissed Gareth Delany as Ireland was down to 22/3.
A half-century from Harry Tector helped the Irish cricket team cross the 100-run mark in the first innings. Chasing 109 for a win, India was home in the 10th over itself. Deepak Hooda top-scored with a 47-run knock, while Dinesh Karthik was not out on five.
When Karthik came out to bat in Dublin, the crowd at The Village went berserk, with chants of “DK, DK, DK” echoing in the stadium. Here is a video of his entry, shared by former Ireland cricketer Niall O’Brien.

Rohan Gavaskar wants Dinesh Karthik in the Indian T20 World Cup squad
Former Indian cricketer Rohan Gavaskar recently shared his views on Dinesh Karthik and said that the veteran wicket-keeper batter would be one of the first names in his Indian squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
“For me, he is one of the first names in the Indian T20 squad for the World Cup because he is such a versatile, such a fabulous cricketer. You want him to be in form and this is the right opportunity for him to get some matches under his belt and hopefully get some runs under his belt,” said Gavaskar on Sports 18.
