Gautam Gambhir picks India’s batting order for 2022 T20 World Cup, includes both Ishan Kishan and Deepak Hooda

One of the major reasons for India’s failure in the 2021 T20 World Cup was the batting department. Hence, there is more focus given to this department ahead of the next event. There have been a lot of opinions coming in from various fans and experts regarding the same. Now, former India opener Gautam Gambhir has also given his view on the same. In this article, we take a look at India’s batting order for the 2022 T20 World Cup picked by Gautam Gambhir.

India’s batting order for the 2022 T20 World Cup

During the second T20I between India and South Africa, Gautam Gambhir selected the preferred batting order for the showpiece event in Australia. He first excluded KL Rahul but revised the batting order to include him. However, Gambhir’s position for Rahul was at No.5. The LSG mentor picked Ishan Kishan to partner with Rohit Sharma at the top.

Another surprise was the exclusion of Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja. Two of these two are expected to feature in the playing XI for India in the T20 WC. Especially in Rishabh Pant’s case, it needs to be noted that he is currently captaining India. Yet, Gambhir did not include. However, he selected Deepak Hooda, who was part of LSG in IPL 2022.

A tricky task for the management

India has a strong depth in all the departments. However, the management will have a challenge in deciding the best possible batting unit for the World Cup. While Rahul Dravid and co. will have to consider experience on one side, the management must also focus on the new-age T20 batting strategies. Therefore, it will be interesting to see what decisions they will take for the showpiece event.
