It was a surprise when Rohit Sharma did not come out to bat with Ishan Kishan. However, it was understandable because he was in poor form. That said, both Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green fell early and it was inevitable for Rohit Sharma to come to bat.
The Indian skipper too did not last long in the game. He fell for a three-ball duck. MS Dhoni was in top form as a skipper to get this scalp. It was in the powerplay but yet, he came up to the stumps to the bowling of Deepak Chahar. The field was set such that Rohit could easily play the lap shot. Rohit Sharma tried that but his poor form meant that he could not time properly and it was an easy catch for Ravindra Jadeja at gully.
Any other skipper would have let the momentum of the team continue. However, despite Rohit surprising MSD by not opening the batting, MSD also dished out a surprise by making a special move to walk up to the stumps. Overall, it was MS Dhoni’s brilliant field placement that helped CSK get the wicket. Deepak Chahar also bowled well to fulfill MSD’s vision.
