Ravindra Jadeja is one of those players who generally bat lower down the order for India in test cricket and doesn’t always get the opportunity to score big hundreds. However, today was one of those days in the Mohali test match against Sri Lanka where it seemed as if Jadeja might score the first double hundred of his test career.
The left-hander was batting on 175 and was looking in no trouble at all when the Indian captain Rohit Sharma decided to declare the innings. It was surprising for the Indian fans because there were more than three days left in the game and India had ample time in hand to bowl Sri Lanka out twice, but Rohit still went ahead and declared the innings when he could have waited for an extra half an hour to give Jadeja the opportunity to complete his double hundred.
India fans didn’t like the declaration when Ravindra Jadeja was batting on 175
It might have been a statement from the team management that they want to give the team causes more preference over personal milestones, but the Indian fans on Twitter didn’t like it a lot, because something like that has happened once before in the past when the former Indian c aptain Rahul Dravid
Although Rohit Sharma is the captain at the moment and it is likely that he is the one who would have made the final call, since Dravid is also a part of the team management as a head coach, the Indian fans slammed both Rohit and Dravid on Twitter. There were a lot of tweets criticizing both the captain and the coach for not giving Ravindra Jadeja an opportunity to complete his double hundred. Here are some of the tweets –
Declaration when Jadeja completed his 150 would've made more sense.

Turns out Tea was taken anyway. I'd be quite disappointed if i was Jadeja now with this declaration. Didn't get the overs and gave extra 10 mins rest to their openers.

If you want to know the reason behind India’s declaration, Jadeja was just 38 runs behind from Rohit’s highest individual Test score of 212. #CaptainInsecure
