David Warner’s wife takes a dig at critics as Aussie opener becomes man of the tournament in T20 World Cup

David Warner's wife was being sarcastic on twitter about his husband's "form and age"

David Warner’s wife Candice Warner has taken a dig at all those critics who were of the opinion that David Warner was not just out of form, but also past his prime and should be dropped from the Australian playing XI in the T20 World Cup.

After Warner played another impact knock for Australia in the final of the T20 World Cup 2021 last night and was eventually named the player of the tournament, Candice tweeted sarcastically “Out of form, too old and slow” with a laughing emoji.

She was probably having a go at those people who forgot the fact that Warner was not consistently playing cricket and hence, needed some time in the middle to find his rhythm and it was not a question of him being horribly out of form.

David Warner went through a really horrid time before the T20 World Cup, not just because of the question marks on his form, but also because of how he was treated by the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise, a team for whom he did so much as a batsman and as a captain.

David Warner’s wife has been with him through all his recent struggles

Candice has been with Warner through all this agony and pain of not just being able to score a lot of runs, but also of not being treated well by his franchise. And eventually when it all turned around at the biggest stages of them all, it was only fitting for David Warner’s wife to express her happiness and have a little go at the critics which she did in a sarcastic tone.

David Warner himself, however, didn’t really take a swipe at anyone and was very humble in the post match interview where he said he was always very confident about scoring some runs even though he couldn’t quite get a lot of time in the middle in the warm up games before the tournament.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
