Pretoria Capitals, the sister franchise of Delhi Capitals, were one of the teams which had gone into the SAT20 league auction with a heavy budget because they had not signed 4 or 5 players pre-auction as many other teams had done. But, the squad that the Pretoria Capitals ended up with at the end of the auction was a very strong squad and it had almost all bases covered.
Anrich Nortje was one of the local players that the Capitals had already in their ranks before the auction, as he plays for Delhi Capitals as well and the management had secured his services pre-auction. The second prominent South African player that the Capitals added to the squad was Rilee Rossouw whom they bought for more than 6 million Rand.
Rossouw has only recently returned to South Africa’s national team because he had signed a kolpak contract in England a few years ago which barred him from playing for South Africa, but in the franchise leagues that Rossouw played all around the world during the period when he was barred from the South African set-up, he scored a lot of runs, which was why the Capitals bade really hard for him.
Apart from Nortje, the Capitals had signed an uncapped South African player Migael Pretorius from the emerging player’s category pre-auction and they then completed the pace trio in the auction by securing the services of Joshua Little who is a left-arm fast bowler from Ireland.
A formidable all-around attack was formed later as Pretoria Capitals managed to buy the English leg spinner Adil Rashid who has incredible stats in T20 international cricket for England.
Pretoria Capitals signed Phil Salt and Kusal Mendis as wicket-keepers
Two of the young England players, Will Jacks, and Phil Salt, who are supposed to be in the next line of England’s white-ball superstars also made their way into the Capitals squad. The Capitals, in the latter stages of the auction, signed Kusal Mendis as the backup wicketkeeper who can open the batting too.

Wayne Parnell was another local player whom the Capitals bade hard for, because of his experience and also because of the fact that he is a left-hander who is capable of contributing with both bat and ball.
