SAT20 league auction: List of players sold to Paarl Royals (sister franchise of Rajasthan Royals)

David Miller has been named the captain of the Paarl Royals, he also leads Barbados Royals in CPL

Paarl Royals, the sister franchise of Rajasthan Royals, were another team apart from MI Capetown which went into the SAT20 league auction in a really strong position because they had signed some of the best T20 players in the world pre-auction in the form of Jos Buttler, David Miller, and Obed McCoy.

Paarl had a great start in the first-ever SAT20 league auction, as they began the auction by signing the first two players who went under the hammer and managed to form a very strong core group in the initial stages of the auction itself.

The Royals management was very clear about who were the players they wanted and although they had to spend an approximate sum of 3.4 crore INR over Lungi Ngidi and Tabraiz Shamsi, they were not reluctant to spend that, as they knew both these players were local players with plenty of international experience and would turn out very useful through the tournament.

Another key local signing that the Paarl Royals made was Bjorn Fortuin, who is a defensive left-arm spinner and can bat a bit down the order too. The defensive left-arm spinners, who can bat a bit, are among the vital resources with respect to the team combination in T20 cricket.

Paarl Royals got Jason Roy as an opening partner of Jos Buttler

The Royals needed an opening partner for Jos Buttler and they didn’t have to spend a lot of money to get Jason Roy, as not too many franchises went hard for Roy due to his recent form. Although the Royals had already named David Miller the captain of the team for the first season, they later signed England’s former World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan as well.

Morgan won’t just be a middle-order option for the Paarl Royals, but he would also be a leadership option if needed at any stage. Corbin Bosch was another useful local signing the Royals had made pre-auction itself and at the end, the men in pink were able to assemble a very balanced 17-member squad.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
