Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s love affair with Sri Lanka continued as he played a magnificent knock in the first ODI in Guwahati. Opening the batting, the senior opener looked in sublime touch and was on charge as he took the aggressive route and smashed the opposition bowlers all over the park.

Rohit timed the ball to perfection and gave his team a staggering start. He crafted his innings staggering well and paved his way through a half-century in just 41 balls. He also stitched 143 runs partnership with Shubman Gill, who scored 70 runs. This was the 27th time when he was involved in a century partnership.

He, however, didn’t stop there as he kept punishing by Sri Lanka bowlers and tonked them all over the park. Rohit looked at his vintage best as he oozed class, scoring 83 runs in 67 balls.

Ahead of the match, he was under a lot of scanners because of his poor form. But he replied to all the critics in style. During his innings, he also surpassed 9500 runs in ODIs and also completed 7,500 ODI runs as an opener at an average of 57. He’s the fastest ever opener to reach that landmark. Rohit missed his ton by 17 runs as he chopped on but it was a high-class innings. The right-hander smashed 9 fours and 3 innings with a strike rate of 123.88.
