Fans on Twitter reacted after Hotstar announced that they will stream the Asia Cup 2023 and ICC World Cup 2023 for free. They reacted hilariously to the development and said that its battle with Jio is interesting. Notably, Jio Cinema streamed IPL for free.

In what has been the latest development, broadcasting conglomerate Disney Hotstar has revealed that they will be streaming Asia Cup and ICC World Cup 2023 for free. It comes after they witnessed a low viewership during the ongoing ICC WTC final. 

Disney+ Hotstar Head, Sajith Sivanandan while talking about the development said that by providing free streaming they want to take the OTT Platform in India to the next level. He said:

“Disney+ Hotstar has remained at the forefront for the rapid growth and evolution of the OTT industry in India and the many innovations we have introduced to continue enhancing the experience of viewers and it has allowed us to delight our audiences across the region. 

“Making the Asia Cup 2023 and ICC ODI World Cup 2023 available to a mass audience, We Believe and Wants to grow the OTT Platform in India to the next level.”

Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in September. The tournament will see six teams clashing with each other in 13 matches. Six teams have been divided into two groups with three teams each.

India and Pakistan are placed in group A along with a qualifier whereas Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are placed in group B. Although there are lots of talks going around the venue for the tournament is yet to be announced, the decision related to that will likely be made in the coming days. 

On the other hand, ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will take place from 5th October. A total of 47 matches are likely to take place throughout the tournament with Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mumbai, Rajkot, Bengaluru, Delhi, Indore, Mohali, Guwahati and Hyderabad being the prime venues for the games.
