“I took a lot of decisions, but someone else took the credit,” Ajinkya Rahane reflects on Australia triumph

India beat Australia 2-1 away from home under Ajinkya Rahane after losing the first test badly

The former Indian vice captain Ajinkya Rahane has taken a dig at the previous Indian team management saying that he took a lot of decisions in the Border Gavaskar trophy in Australia and helped the team win, but “someone else” took the credit for that.

According to Ajinkya Rahane, who was in conversation with Boria Majumdar on his show Backstage with Boria, there were discussions between him and the team management about gameplan, but there were a lot of decisions that he made on the field all by himself. When he sees the credit for those decisions being taken someone else, he just laughs because what else can he do?

It was a very candid interview which is up on the youtube where Rahane talked about his batting form as well and insisted that he might not have been as consistent as he would have liked to, but he has made some key contributions for India in red ball cricket.

Boria asked Rahane with a quote of Sachin Tendulkar that people from outside don’t always know if a batsman is out of form or not and it’s always the batsman himself who can say with absolute certainty if he is playing well or not because only he knows how he is hitting the ball.

To that, Rahane said he is very happy with how he has been hitting the ball and he is confident as well that he can play a lot of cricket for India going ahead. Rahane’s position in the Indian test team is not certain anymore and it depends on the new Indian team management how they want to take the Indian test team forward from here on and who are the players they want to back?

Ajinkya Rahane has been named in Mumbai squad for upcoming Ranji trophy

Rahane is going to play Ranji trophy cricket for Mumbai in the upcoming edition and his performances in the Ranji trophy will also go a long way in terms of determining the fact if he retains his position in the Indian set-up in red ball cricket.

The veteran has, however, not been named the captain of Mumbai for the Ranji trophy and he will have to play under the captaincy of Prithvi Shaw who is also looking to make a comeback into the Indian test team.

Here is the interview of Ajinkya Rahane with Boria Majumdar where he spoke candidly about a lot of recent developments –

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
