The batting order of CSK has been a bit confusing in IPL 2024. The team has a flexible batting order and has given specific roles to certain batters. Hence, the batting position keeps changing. It would be a good idea to give better role clarity in the next games. Here, we take a look at the ideal batting order which CSK must target for the remaining games of IPL 2024.
Openers: Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad
Rachin Ravindra is an exciting youngster and CSK must just trust him. He did well in the first two games and hence, he is capable. Ruturaj Gaikwad will be the opener and must not operate at No.3, something which he did for a few games.
No.3, 4 & 5: Daryl Mitchell, Shivam Dube and Moeen Ali
Daryl Mitchell seems to have found some form. He is an international cricketer and is capable of playing the long innings. Hence, he must be trusted at No.3. Irrespective of when he would arrive, Dube must come in at No.4. Moeen Ali could have a flexible role but since he can take on the spinners, No.5 can be good for him.
No.6 and 7: Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni
Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni must operate as the finishers. A lot has been tried regarding Jaddu’s position in the batting order. However, the better thing would be to ask him to focus on the pacers and give him a clear role as a finisher. MS Dhoni has anyways been doing his job well.
Impact Player: Sameer Rizvi or Ajinkya Rahane
CSK has reached a stage wherein they could try out a few experiments here. However, Rahane or Rizvi could come in as the Impact Sub if CSK is batting second. Rizvi would be a better option considering he can take on the spinners in the middle overs.
