Former SunRisers Hyderabad all-rounder Parvez Rasool has made a bold prediction about his Jammu and Kashmir teammate Umran Malik. The Indian all-rounder has opined that Malik will break Shoaib Akhtar’s world record for the fastest delivery bowled in cricket history very soon. Akhtar bowled a fiery delivery at 161.3 kmph while playing international cricket for the Pakistan cricket team.
While Umran Malik is yet to clock 160 kmph on the speedometer, he has already crossed the 155 kmph mark. Since he is just getting started, it should not be a surprise if he is bowling in the range of 160 kmph soon.
In an interview with News24, Parvez Rasool shared his views on Umran Malik and said:
“The way Umran is bowling in the IPL, I think he will break Akhtar’s fastest delivery record very soon. Umran is an amazing talent. He is performing well in the IPL and it’s a great sign for Indian cricket that these kinds of talents are coming and doing well.”

In the same interview, Rasool disclosed that Malik did not play much at the U-17 and U-19 levels. Since he was an extraordinary talent, he quickly received a promotion to the senior squads. He further mentioned that since he is doing well in the Indian Premier League right now, he is the future of Indian cricket.
Before Umran Malik, Parvez Rasool emerged as a special talent from Jammu and Kashmir and went on to play for the Indian cricket team. He could not make the most out of the opportunities he received. Rasool had stints with Pune Warriors India, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and SunRisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League, but he did not get an IPL contract in 2022. It will be interesting to see if Rasool can make a comeback.
