According to PTI, Delhi Capitals have decided to release Shardul Thakur, KS Bharat, Tim Seifert, Mandeep Singh & Ashwin Hebbar ahead of IPL 2022. This is a big decision on their part as some of the players in this list are in top form and Shardul Thakur, particularly, was one of their key players last season. Delhi Capitals bought him in the Mega Auction for a whopping price of 10.75 Crores last season and thus it is a shocking decision on their part. It is being said that they wanted to include him in a trade deal but that could not be possible in the end.
This is a brilliant opportunity for Chennai Super Kings to get their man back. CSK had wanted to buy Shardul Thakur in the Mega Auction but unfortunately, they only had enough funds to buy either Shardul or Deepak Chahar. In the end, they went for Chahar. However, they will now have the golden opportunity to rectify their mistake by buying Shardul Thakur in the upcoming mini-auction of IPL 2023.
Although Shardul Thakur has been away from Team India’s T20I team for quite some time now, over the years, he has really worked on his batting as well and he has thus evolved into an all-rounder. Thus, he will be a great addition to any team that buys him. Apart from Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants are also reportedly interested in buying him
KS Bharat is another shocking name on the list. The young wicketkeeper has done consistently well in domestic cricket and he deserves better. However, it is also understandable because Delhi Capitals already have Rishabh Pant as their main wicketkeeper and it is unnecessary to have a spare keeper of such potential as Bharat. He himself would be better off at a different franchise where he would get some game time.
