Bangladesh and India are currently locking horns in the second Test in Dhaka. Ahead of the game, the visitors surprised many when they omitted Kuldeep Yadav from the XI. But in his place left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat in the side.
Unadkat was named in the side as a replacement for Mohammad Shami. He missed the first game due to visa formalities but finally managed to find a place in the side. He last represented India in the 2010-11 tour of South Africa, where he went wicketless and then never found himself in the side.
The pacer then toiled hard in the domestic circuit and kept taking wickets in clusters. In the last three Ranji Trophy seasons, he has picked up 115 wickets in 21 matches. He played an instrumental role in his side’s title win in 2019-20, picking up 67 wickets, the second-highest haul by a bowler in a season.
Unadkat’s return so far has been decent as he bowled staggering well. He troubled the Bangladesh batters constantly with extra bounce and also took his maiden Test wicket in Zakir Hasan, who scored a century in the last match.
