“Don’t play the IPL if you want to win the World Cup,” Rohit Sharma’s childhood coach Dinesh Lad feels that Indian players should focus and play all international games

India were eliminated after suffering 10-wicket loss against England in semi final of T20 World Cup 2022.

Rohit Sharma’s childhood coach Dinesh Lad lashed out at Indian cricketers for missing international games. He said that if they want to win World Cup they shouldn’t play IPL and their sole focus should be on playing all the games.

Indian team suffered a disappointing exit from the T20 World Cup 2022. They suffered a 10-wicket loss in the semi-final against England and following they have come under a lot of scrutiny. Indian players failed to step up on the big occasion and couldn’t handle the pressure, which led to a poor outing in the tournament.

It was the same story for them, which had been since 2014, as they dominated the league stage and succumbed to pressure in the knockout stage. Many have urged them to take some harsh calls, dropping the senior player and bringing a new set of players to the side.

India won every series in their build up to the tournament but their also rested many players and didn’t play same team in many series. Many cited this as one of the main reason behind India’s loss in the World Cup and also criticised players for missing the international games.

Dinesh Lad also highlighted this as main reason behind India’s loss in the T20 World Cup. He said that there was no stability at all. Speaking to Sportskeeda, he said:

“I thought, maybe, in the last seven-eight months, we are not a stable team. If we are preparing for the World Cup, it should be an established team. In the last seven months, somebody is coming to open the innings, somebody is coming to bowl, there is no stability.”

Dinesh Lad further went on to say that Indian players should playing IPL if they want to win the World Cup. He feels that there’s shouldn’t be any compromise in international cricket. Adding to his statement, he said:

“I don’t think so (on giving workload management as the reason). Everybody in the world is playing because they are professionals, not a workload you can say. Why are they playing in the IPL? Don’t play the IPL if you want to win the World Cup.

In actual professional grades, they should play every game (at international level) because we are getting something from that. It’s not an honorary job and there should be no compromise in international cricket.”
