The Royal Challengers Bangalore became the second franchise to score 10 points in IPL 2022 last night as they registered their fifth win of the season while playing against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Brabourne Stadium. Interestingly, two former Chennai Super Kings players, Josh Hazlewood and Faf du Plessis helped the Bangalore-based franchise win the match.
Speaking about the match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Lucknow Super Giants, LSG won the match and invited RCB to bat first. Although the Bangalore-based franchise lost two quick wickets, a 96-run innings from captain Faf du Plessis ensured that RCB finished with a competitive score of 181/6 in their 20 overs.
Chasing 182 runs to win, the Lucknow Super Giants lost wickets at regular intervals. Krunal Pandya played a good innings of 42 runs, but he did not receive support from other players and eventually, LSG lost by 18 runs. Josh Hazlewood stole the show for RCB with a four-wicket haul.
He picked up the wickets of Quinton de Kock, Manish Pandey, Ayush Badoni and Marcus Stoinis. Speaking with the host broadcasters after the match, Hazlewood said:
“I’m really enjoying it particularly at the start and at this ground. Wankhede’s got some good bounce but here at DY, it’s unreal with the new ball. You can go for runs if you get it wrong but if you get it right you can create a couple of wicket opportunities.”
Fans on Twitter feel that CSK made a big mistake by releasing Faf du Plessis and Josh Hazlewood
Both Faf du Plessis and Josh Hazlewood played an integral role in the Chennai Super Kings’ IPL 2021 championship win last year. However, both weren’t retained by the franchise. Also, the Super Kings allowed RCB to sign the two overseas stars.
This year, RCB has performed better than CSK, and here’s how fans on Twitter reacted to it:

Chennai’s loss is Bangalore’s gain. Faf and Hazlewood. #RCB has been superb thus far…finding ways to win when a lot seems lost. 👏👏 #IPL2022
