Chris Morris has opined that Australia, South Africa, India, and New Zealand would reach the semi-finals of the ICC event. Australia is the defending champion and has a very strong squad. They will also be playing at home and hence, would have a good advantage. India is anyways one of the strongest squads in the game. They are the automatic favorites for most.
South Africa has a balanced unit and is capable of pulling off a surprise. The strength of the team is its bowling attack. New Zealand has a few issues but most of them would be solved if Kane Williamson can return to his best. With him doing well, the rest of the batting would be sorted. While Chris Morris’ picks were more or less on point, it is interesting to note that he left out England, a team that has been in terrific form.

In 2021, very few predicted Australia to win the trophy. However, T20 can be an unpredictable format and Australia went on to lift the trophy. Hence, no team cannot be ignored in the tournament.
Teams such as Pakistan and Sri Lanka could also have a chance if they perform to their potential. West Indies might be in mediocre touch but T20 is a format that they like. If players like Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell step up, it could be difficult to stop them, too.
