“He Is The Star”- A Twitter User Points Out How Arshdeep Singh Has Been The Difference-Maker For PBKS In Death Overs

Death overs are the toughest phase for any bowler to bowl in a T20 match. Most of the times, a set batter is in the middle during that period and he takes the bowlers to the cleaners. Even if a bowler manages to dismiss a player, the next batter is likely to be a big-hitter. Also, since the number of overs remaining are less, every batter looks to play aggressively in death overs.

Arshdeep Singh has done a splendid job for the Punjab Kings in that area during the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League so far. Yesterday evening, during the match between PBKS and Chennai Super Kings, Singh bowled the 17th and the 19th over of the CSK innings.

Sandeep Sharma conceded 23 runs to the Chennai Super Kings in the 16th over of the run-chase. When Arshdeep Singh came in to bowl the 17th over, CSK had a well-set Ambati Rayudu and captain Ravindra Jadeja in the middle.

While Singh could not pick up any wickets, he conceded only six runs in his over. Chennai Super Kings needed 47 off the last four overs, but after Arshdeep’s over, the equation was down to 41 off last three. Then, Arshdeep came to bowl the 19th over and only gave away eight runs.

A Twitter user pointed out how Arshdeep has been a star performer for PBKS in the death overs this year.

Arshdeep has been the best death overs bowler in this camp: Kagiso Rabada

Speaking with the host broadcasters after the match between PBKS and CSK, South African star Kagiso Rabada heaped praise on Arshdeep Singh and said:

“Arsh (Arshdeep) has been the best death bowler in this camp, that’s what the stats say. He’s a youngster coming in, has got a lot of drive, a lot of ambition as well. And he’s just a good bloke, so, it’s nice to have him around.”
