Veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle has downplayed the criticism of Nagpur’s pitch with his brutal statement. He said that just like people, everyone must do the same with pitches and should know them before passing judgement on their character.

Australian media and ex-cricketers criticised Nagpur’s pitch ahead of the game 

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia kick-started on Thursday (9th February). On the eve of the first game, various Australian fans, pundits and media criticised BCCI for the pitch.

Australian media took a jibe at BCCI and accused them of “straight-up pitch doctoring”. They said that they are preparing rank turners to make life tough for batters. It’s fair to say that it’s a ploy of mind games by the Australian media, who recent past have done the same things.

Lots of drama did rounds around the Nagpur pitch. A controversy took place after pictures of the groundskeepers working on specific areas of the wicket hogged the headlines. Australian media accused ground staff for watering the centre of the pitch and the off-side for right-handers, leaving out the leg-side dry, which will hurt left-handed batters.

However, as the match progressed, the pitch had no demons. Australian batters struggled to get going and were bundled out for just 177 runs. Whereas Indian batters on the same pitch have batted well.

Following the criticism of the pitch and wicket playing out well, veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle downplays criticism of the Nagpur’s pitch with his brutal statement. He said that just like people, everyone must do the same with pitches and should know them before passing judgement on their character.

Coming to the match, after India bundled out Australia for 177 runs, skipper Rohit Sharma led from the front and smashed a century. His ton made sure that India surpass the visitors’ score and take a lead.
