BR-U23 vs SP-U23: The defending champions Brazil will face Spain in the Final of the Men’s Olympics football competition. It was an eventful Semi-Final clash for both the participating nations.
The Semi-Final round involved the defending champions taking on Mexico at the Ibaraki Kashima Stadium. The silent first half was then followed with another half, with neither of the team’s being successful to send one in the back of the net.
After the two halves didn’t suffice, the teams were provided with extra time to test their luck there. However, with that too being insufficient as the match went into penalties. In that, Brazil came atop with 4-1 and stormed into the Finals with a clear shot at Gold.
Meanwhile, Spain was up against hosts Japan at the Saitama Stadium, and it was a crucial encounter for both the teams with a berth empty for the major Final. The match was going towards an unsatisfactory stalemate as neither of the teams was able to convert and register themselves on the scoresheet.
However, after being sent into extra time, Marco Asensio sends one back in, in the final few minutes of the game and that was good enough to send Spain into the Final of the Men’s Olympic Football competition.
At the International stadium Yokohama, it’ll be Brazil, Spain to joust for Golden Glory.
