England is trailing 2-0 in the ongoing Ashes. It will be crucial for them to win the next game and bring life into their campaign. However, it will not be that easy as some of the English stars are not in great form. The management will also have to make some tough changes to the playing XI, especially the bowling unit. On that note, here, we take a look at two bold changes England might do for the third Ashes Test in Leeds.

1) Chris Woakes for James Anderson

James Anderson has unfortunately been poor in the ongoing Ashes. He is struggling to pick wickets while Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson have been better than him. Hence, it is likely that the legendary pacer would be dropped for the third game of the series.

England has quite a few options to replace Anderson. Chris Woakes would be a more like-to-like replacement for the pacer while Mark Wood is also an option. Considering Woakes adds batting depth to the unit, he is more likely to get his spot in the playing XI.

2) Moeen Ali for Josh Tongue

Moeen Ali for Josh Tongue is one of the bold changes England might do for the third Ashes Test in Leeds. It was Josh Tongue who replaced Moeen Ali for the second Test. England might go back to Moeen for the third game.

Moeen had a mixed game in the first Test. While he picked a couple of wickets, he failed to apply pressure on the Aussies and was also not able to deliver with the willow. Therefore, it will be a bold call if England has to bring Moeen back into the playing XI. England also has the option of using Mark Wood and preferring someone like Joe Root as the spin option. Hence, picking Moeen will be a bold call but is likely to happen.
