India is currently locking horns with Australia in the four-match Test series. The gusts are leading the series 2-0 with two games to go. BCCI has retained the same squad for the final two Tests. The third Test between the teams is slated to take place in Indore from 1st to 5th March.

But one of the main noticeable things in the squad is that no vice-captain has been named for the team for the last two Tests. It’s just an indication that the team has sacked Rahul as the vice-captain of the team.

Rahul has come under a lot of scrutinies for his torrid run in Test cricket. A lot of eyebrows were raised when he started the series. But it was expected that he would give a befitting reply to all the critics. But it didn’t happen as he failed in the first game, scoring just 20 runs.

Rahul got the backing of the team management in the second game as well but the same story continued for him as he yet again failed and managed just 18 runs across two innings. With him having a poor average of just 33 in over 45 games, it’s fair to say that the future doesn’t look good for him.

There have been a lot of speculations about whether the batter will play the third game or not. The question remains whether the team will back KL Rahul in the third Test or not. The batter failed drastically in the first two games. On the other hand, Gill has been in fine form of late and registered a ton in the last Test he played.

With just one day remaining for the third Test, youngster Shubman Gill was seen practising alongside skipper Rohit Sharma in the nets. This could well be an indication that Gill might come in for the third Test in place of Rahul.
