“Back to the good, old days,” Indian fans get nostalgic on twitter as it gets confirmed that DD Sports will be the only TV channel broadcasting India Vs New Zealand T20I series

DD Sports is a state owned sports network in India and it will be the only network to show the T20I games between men in blue and the Blackcaps

Since India Vs New Zealand T20I series has come straight after India’s disappointing exit from the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022, this is not one of the most hyped series. Even though a large number of Indian fans will still watch it, there is a bit of viewer fatigue from that T20 World Cup exit.

Amazon prime is the official broadcaster of all the cricket games that are currently being played in New Zealand and Amazon prime is available in India as well, but the problem with Amazon prime is that it’s an OTT platform that needs a minimum subscription of 179 INR per month to watch the games.

Even though the internet is now available in most parts of India, most of the fans might not want to pay as high a subscription fee as Amazon is demanding for a one-month subscription and since no private TV channel has had an agreement with Amazon to broadcast the India Vs New Zealand series on television in India, the fans will have to watch the games on DD Sports.

No private channel will telecast India Vs New Zealand series in India, but DD Sports will telecast it

DD Sports is a state owned network in India and although it doesn’t have a high definition channel yet, it generally broadcasts all the games that India plays anywhere in the world, whether it’s test cricket or ODIs or T20Is. So the India Vs New Zealand series might not get telecasted in India by any private channel, but it will be telecasted by DD Sports.

A lot of Indian fans, who have seen the the times of pre-satellite TV where DD Sports was the only network telecasting all the India games, reacted on twitter earlier today saying that the game is back to “good old days”, as everyone will be tuning into DD Sports once again.

Here are the twitter reactions of the Indian fans –

Abhishek

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
