Anti-Corruption Unit To Investigate Deepak Hooda Social Media Post Before Match Vs RR: Reports

Deepak Hooda had an evening to forget at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium yesterday in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. Playing for the Punjab Kings against the Rajasthan Royals, Deepak first leaked 37 runs off his two overs. Then, he got out for a duck in the second innings at a crucial point in the match.

Now, according to reports, Deepak Hooda’s social media post has come under the scanner of the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU). Speaking to ANI, an official said: “ACU will look into this post. Our restrictions are that there shall not be any talk about the composition of the team.”

What did Deepak Hooda post on Instagram that has landed him in a controversy?

Deepak Hooda posted a picture of himself wearing the helmet of the Punjab Kings team around 2 PM. It was just a few hours before the first ball of the match. It is possible that the social media team of Deepak might have posted this picture, but according to former ACU chief Ajit Singh approaches, if any, could be made through social media because there are limited venues and because of COVID-19, there is limited physical movement.

“See, while the number of venues is less, the hurdles of physical movement due to the coronavirus pandemic also means that approaches if any will be made through social media. So, we are going to be closely monitoring the same and ensuring that there is nothing that escapes the team’s eyes,” Ajit Singh had said.
