Australia will be the favourites to win the World Test Championship. On that note, here, we take a look at Australia’s strongest playing XI for the WTC 2025 Final.
Australia squad: Pat Cummins (c), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Sam Konstas, Matt Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Steve Smith (vc), Mitchell Starc, Beau Webster. Travelling reserve: Brendan Doggett
Openers: Usman Khawaja and Sam Konstas
Usman Khawaja and Sam Konstas are likely to continue to open the batting. The latter will be expected to take on the bowling right from the start.
Middle-Order: Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head and Alex Carey (WK)
This is a settled middle order, and there would be no changes here. Marnus will be under pressure, though, to be consistent for the side.
All-Rounders: Cameron Green
Cam Green makes a return to the Test setup. If he is not fit to bowl, Webster could come in here, and Green could go up to open the batting.
Bowlers: Pat Cummins (WK), Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon
Again, this is a settled bowling attack. Scott Boland will have to miss out because Hazlewood is more experienced and offers better value in England. Hence, Hoff is in the squad.
